Alastair Stewart's wife Sally Stewart reveals 'biggest fear' about Alzheimer's

Former British broadcaster Alistair Stewart says he began to suspect something was wrong when he couldn’t tie his shoelaces properly. But his wife Sally says she noticed the signs much earlier, and the signs were much more serious than just forgetting how to tie one’s shoelaces.

Nevertheless, the couple has learned to deal with the reality of a dementia diagnosis. Both share their experiences in two separate interviews.

Alistair no longer drives. Nevertheless, “We’ve still got quite a busy social life,” Sally says. “We’ve got wonderful friends who are still involving us in their social lives. . . There aren’t any surprises. really. What we’re having to go through I had prepared myself for.”
